Children’s Homes

Across Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, and Burundi, Touch the Nations' children’s homes are transforming young lives through safety, education, and skill-building.

Children are thriving in nurturing environments while older youth gain practical skills like sewing and learning to care for animals like chickens and goats. In rural areas, access to education and clean water is creating hope in previously underserved communities. Infants brought into care are lovingly nurtured until they can be welcomed into local adoptive families from their community.

Others are breaking cycles of poverty by learning trades and continuing their education—evidence that with support, opportunity, and love, true transformation is possible.

  • House of Love: Sierra Leone (Freetown)

At the Bonnie Memorial Children’s Home, 32 children now have a safe, nurturing environment.

Older children are learning to sew and make school uniforms—reducing costs and gaining valuable skills.

Thanks to a tailor who once trained them, the teens are now creating their own clothing using two donated sewing machines! These skills also help build future income opportunities.

  • House of Hope: Sierra Leone (Village)

Our children’s home in the countryside has been faithfully caring for 35 children.  They are witnessing transformation through education and community care.

The children are excited to  have a new school and drinking well!

It is the only village school in the region, setting a powerful example for nearby areas.

  • Joseph House: Ethiopia

Twenty-five children are cared for lovingly. Infants who are brought to the doorstep are also nurtured until adopted by Ethiopian families.

Our dedicated coordinator and team of nannies and staff ensures their health, happiness, and a high standard of care.

In February 2025, Touch the Nations’ founder Katja Starkey, along with her daughter Kiya, visited to strengthen this mission.

  • Bwiza Home: Burundi

Success stories here speak of transformation:

One youth training as an electrician and another learning audio and sound technology.  Several young women are continuing their educational studies while living outside Bwiza Home.

Their journeys reflect the strength of community support and opportunity.
